Tales Of A Natural Blond

Update: So I am brunette, for now anyways. I got some hairdye last night at Walgreens, and I am now letting the highlights develop on my head while I type. It's a 2-part hair color, you do the all over color first, then the muliti tonal highlights. hehe

<*late spring of 2005*

When the husband met me I was very brunette, rich brown with hints of red and even purple tones, sounds insane but I actually got a ton of compliments on it all the time.
Don't get me wrong, I get comments on my natural dirty blond locks as well, but it sadly subconsciously registers with the grandma Vernita (bio dad's mother) and her catch phrase (Shame On You!) She'd go on to say, "Shame on you Nicolle. Born with blond hair and blue eyes, and you go a dye your hair! Can you believe that grandpa!" (grandpa didn't really care, he knows she can be a harpie.

Honestly Nicolle isn't doing drugs, in jail, or even un-accomplished! Nicolle is married to a wonderful guy, has had the same great job for nearly 3 years which is does amazingly at, is thought highly of, so it's just silly to let a simple change of hair color be such a deal breaker and dissapointment) Sorry to say this is no exaggeration she's
always done this. At 20 and married I think I'm more than able to decide how my hair looks.

Well anyways, needless to say I am not excited to hear what the grandma has to say about the hair. I hate that I avoid her because she has always done so much for me, but it's hard to have an honest relationship with someone who is constantly telling you that was a bad idea, or is torn up because you like being a brunette in the off season... ugh

Please, please, please, next time you want to dye your hair a different color, let me do it. Those box dyes at the stores are so awful for your hair! Feel free to abuse my cosmetologist skills. You have too pretty of hair to let it get ruined by a box of Feria or Nice and Easy or anything like that!!
