she sews! she sews!

Okay so I got a sewing machine from my mom (she has like 4) and I made a tote bag and what not but I have a urge to make a couple things. More toy related items.

You have probably seen those UGLY DOLLS around and you can't deny they are kind of cute! I've always had a soft spot for the whole Robot, Monster, thing... not bad monsters but good ones! and how easy would they be to make, honestly? Two pieces of warn in fleece, in muted greens, gray-blue, and burnt orange, with a simple face, and Gwen and Reese buy those for their own children... jack pot! No, this isn't me trying to start a business, but I think they are so simple and cute. So I found this when I googled "simple fabric toys". As you can see (from a sewer's point of view) he (she or it) is sew-simple! My mom also made a good point, that buttons (unless your child is 3 and up) are not a good idea for use as eyes, nose etc. So if you can see on this doll, his eyes and mouth are embroidered light blue thread on his face...

I also found these shapes at Target.com that are simple shapes in bright fabrics that say the shape on them. I made a really cute Square last night, and I am thinking of embroidering the shapes name on the front before I cut and assemble them.

I would love to be able to get to a point where I can graduate from the 2D figures (the animals in pinks, yellows and browns) and still very simple but more structured are these I found Other things I found that I love:
